  1. Truman Courthouse Closed Friday, Aug. 30

    The Historic Jackson County Truman Courthouse is closed Friday, Aug. 30 due to the Santa-Cali-Gon Days celebration in Independence. The courthouse at 415 E. 12th Street in Kansas City, including the Assessment, Collection and Recorder of Deeds offices there, will be open regular business hours that day. The Truman Courthouse will reopen Tuesday, Sept. 3 following the Labor Day weekend.

    County Offices Closed Monday, Sept. 2

    All county offices, including the courthouses in Kansas City and Independence, will be closed Monday, Sept. 2 in observance of Labor Day.
Prior to any marriage within the State of Missouri a "Marriage License" must be first obtained from the Jackson County Recorder of Deeds Department (or any other Recorder/Clerk’s offices located within the State of Missouri). Once issued a couple can contact any minister or judge (as defined by Missouri law) to perform the wedding ceremony.
