Purpose

Representatives of Jackson County, the city of Independence and Eastern Jackson County Betterment Council have forced a consortium for the purpose of implementing and operation program authorized by the Workforce Investment Act of 1998.

The Eastern Jackson County Workforce Development Board was formed to implement a job training program developed under a grant received by the Full Employment Council related to the Workforce Investment Act of 1998.

Composition

• The board shall consist of up to 35 members appointed by local elected officials.
• The County Executive shall appoint seven of the members. These appointees shall represent businesses with employment opportunities in the Jackson County area.
• At least one member appointed by the County Executive shall represent small business, including minority business.
• Members shall serve staggered terms of two years. Members shall continue to serve until their successors are appointed.
