In October, Jackson County partnered with RideKC and the city of Kansas City for the annual Solidarity Walk for Breast Cancer Awareness. Before the walk, participants were able to celebrate breast cancer survivors and remember those who lost their battle by signing a solidarity banner and purchasing bracelets and pins.
Those funds along with donations raised from the Friday Jeans Days went to support the American Cancer Society.
On Wednesday December, 5, Jackson County Executive Frank White, Jr., presented the organization with a check from county associates in the amount of $731.
The American Cancer Society is a nationwide, community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem. Its mission is to save lives, celebrate lives and lead the fight for a world without cancer.
