Summit Technology Academy (STA) is a shared campus of junior and senior students who come together for a half-day program as an extension of their regular high school schedule. Students seriously interested in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) related careers attend STA.
STA prepares its students for high wage, high demand, and professional careers. STA has been built upon its ability to provide rigorous programs of study that blend classroom instruction with real-world, hands-on experiences with over 200 business and industry partners. Additionally, the majority of courses are aligned to a college-level curriculum.
The Missouri Innovation Campus (MIC) is a collaboration between the Lee’s Summit R-7 School District, Metropolitan Community College and the University of Central Missouri. MIC is an extension of the Summit Technology Academy. This program allows students to work toward a specific career path that matches their skills and needs. The best part of this program is that you leave with a 2-year associate’s degree meaning students are able to earn a bachelor’s degree in two years after graduating high school. They also bring the value of leaving students with little to no debt.
As of September 5, 2017 MIC has a brand new campus including 60 classrooms and shared spaces for the school district and university programs.
