Flooding Causes Road and Parks + Rec Closures in Jackson County

Heavy rain Wednesday evening that lasted into the overnight hours has caused flooding in areas of Jackson County. The dangers associated with flood waters have prompted the closure of roads, beaches and sections along trails to keep citizens safe.

Flooding Causes Road and Parks + Rec Closures in Jackson County

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Heavy rain Wednesday evening that lasted into the overnight hours has caused flooding in areas of Jackson County. The dangers associated with flood waters have prompted the closure of roads, beaches and sections along trails to keep citizens safe.

The Jackson County Public Works Department reports several road closures including:

  • · Old 40 Highway
  • · Stillhouse Road between Ryan and RD Mize Road
  • · Old Pink Hill Road west of MO H

The Jackson County Parks + Rec Department also reports the following list of closures, including:

  • · Longview Beach
  • · Blue Springs Beach
  • · 140th and Holmes Softball Complex
  • · Little Blue Trace Trail (Multiple sites include Blue Mills Shelter, Bundschu, Ripley Junction)
  • · Longview Bike Trail

Crews are posting signs alerting visitors of the closures. A complete list and pictures can be found on the Jackson County website.

Jackson County Parks + Rec is open for business today, including the golf course, Missouri Town, Ft. Osage and all three marinas at Lake Jacomo, Longview Lake and Blue Springs Lake. The Frank White, Jr. and Adair Softball complexes will also be open for scheduled play today.
