Oak Grove Relief Efforts
The Oak Grove, Missouri, community and surrounding unincorporated areas was struck by a devastating EF3 tornado Monday, March 6. The tornado damaged and destroyed multiple homes and properties. There are several ways to get involved and help Oak Grove and the surrounding areas. Member of the community may sign up to volunteer or donate to the "Help Oak Grove" Go Fund Me page. The Jackson County Assessment Department may allow tax relief to residents who's homes are unfit to live in. Information for tax relief is listed below. Jackson County is also providing a free yard waste and debris collection site for residents, see below for more details.
Tax Relief Information
In the event of a Natural Disaster like the weather damage that occurred in areas of Jackson County on March 7, 2017, some homeowners who have had their homes seriously damaged or destroyed may be eligible for a Removal of Residential Dwelling Value from Assessment of Real Estate.
If this recent weather event has damaged your home to the extent that it cannot currently be occupied, as a homeowner, you can petition to have the value of your home reduced or removed, beginning on April 1, 2017 and until such time as the home can be safely reoccupied. Simply complete this FORM and return it to the address within.
To qualify for this assistance the home must be un-inhabitable and/or completely destroyed. The program is not available to you if your home has been damaged but is still in livable condition nor is this program available for commercial property.

Saturday, April 1st Tornado Disaster Relief Work Day. Registration will be at the New Life Church at 8:00 a.m., please bring photo I.D.. Specific cleanup locations will be assigned as volunteers arrive.Volunteers will be helping in debris clean up, chainsaw-debris removal, bobcat work, misc.. Volunteers are encouraged to bring rakes, work gloves, chainsaws or bobcats.

Another way to help our neighbors affected by this tragedy is by donating items. The local Community Services Leagues (CSL) around the area will be accepting donations and/or monetary donations for the next couple of weeks.
